Style, poise and pizazz

What makes women so exceptional? Style, poise and pizazz go without saying. We’ve has a difficult time capturing just a few accolades and accomplishments, as there are too many to mention.

The fact that we are able to birth, nurture and run households with the duality of being career driven with many of us heading up teams and running offices. There are female trailblazers everywhere – in the science and tech space, we’re pioneers of fashion, we’ve gone to space, we fly airplanes and we’ve lead communities and countries. Today we honour some of the women who have done us particularly proud in 2016 and throughout time.

Serena Williams

Earlier this year the 34-year old matched Steffi Graf’s record of 7 Wimbledon wins bringing her Grand Slams singles wins up to a total of 22 (and has 14 more in doubles). Roger Federer by comparison has 17 singles Grand Slams. Serena’s first Grand Slam was won 17 years ago, making her a tennis legend and the highest paid female athlete in the world. Serena’s style has evolved over the years. She has always been an edgy dresser, unafraid to push boundaries.

Audrey Hepburn

We know her as the multi-award winning theatre and film star AND style icon extraordinaire. Many of us don’t know that Audrey Hepburn dedicated much of her latter life to children. In the 1980’s she became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF traveling the world over raising awareness about children in need. She made a mammoth 50 plus trips with Africa, Asia, Central and South America among them. In 1993 she won a special Academy Award for her humanitarian efforts, but sadly succumbed to colon cancer in that same year. She will be fondly remembered for roles such as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, for her chic personal style, but undoubtedly her most important role was that of goodwill ambassador and her work done for vulnerable children. For some breakfast at Tiffany’s here’s how to get Holly Golightly’s look:
