There are certain fashion items that return every few years – reinvented, better and often bolder than their previous iterations. Needless to say that these pieces are the ones to hang on to, as they are guaranteed to make a come back.
During May we pay homage to these pieces and the women you more than likely introduced us to them, our Mums.
The name comes from the shoes worn by Mary Jane, a character from the Buster Brown comic strip which first appeared in the New York Herald in 1902. They were especially popular with little girls until they were adopted by their older counterparts in the late 50’s and has bounced back at least once every decade since, in the form of stilettoes, platforms, flats and in every finish imaginable.
Mary Jane’s have featured in the collections of Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, Comme Des Garcons, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and the list goes on.
Froggie has done a sublimely comfortable version of this classic, available at Rosella boutiques and Rosella Shoes country wide.
Look out for part 2 of Making a come back later this month.
